Synopsis

This report is the last chap­ter of the his­tory of indian tribes in Brazil caught in the trap of mod­ern civil­i­sa­tion. The PARAKANA indi­ans undergo the first con­tact, which begins the process of their paci­fi­ca­tion. They are drawn by presents laid out in the for­est, then they are set­tled around the attrac­tion camps. After­wards they will be parked in native reserves before being com­pletely assim­i­lated by our all-conquering civilisation.

Paci­fi­ca­tions are always car­ried out for strate­gic or eco­nomic aims. Indian civil­i­sa­tions of Brazil­ian Ama­zo­nia are either dead or dying . What else can they teach  us to-day other than our own cru­elty, igno­rance and pretension ?
